47 questions for Hillary Clinton's confirmation hearing

Posted By Christian Brose Share

Here's a list of questions that we here think Senator Hillary Clinton should be asked in her confirmation hearing on Tuesday to become secretary of state.

Steve Biegun:

1. What will be the timetable for the Obama administration's pledge to withdraw U.S. troops from Iraq? How many U.S. troops should we expect to remain in Iraq?

2. How many more troops would...

Would be interesting to know, also, how the new administration plans to approach Russia's neighbors in the Former Soviet Union. The U.S's existing alliances and animosities in the region may have to be reconsidered, since some of America's friends have lately put this friendship in danger, while some of America's enemies made steps toward reconciliation. For instance, last year, Belarus made overtures toward the West by inviting European observers to its parliamentary elections. Georgia, on the other hand, had pitted the United States against Russia during its war in South Ossetia this past August. Any future policy revisions with regard to FSU countries will likely affect the U.S. relations with Russia.

If I were Hillary

Steve Biegun:
1. What will be the timetable for the Obama administration's pledge to withdraw U.S. troops from Iraq? How many U.S. troops should we expect to remain in Iraq?

If Hillary had balls:
the Iraqi government should determine the need of our troops otherwise, as Powell said we broke it and bought it but now our economy can not justify it.

Christian Brose:
13. The Palestinians have scheduled a presidential election for this year and a legislative election for next year. In light of Hamas's electoral victory in 2006, will you
encourage the Palestinians to hold these elections or cancel them?

If Hillary had a brain:

It is up to the Palestinians to determine whether to hold elections, we have done enough damage running interference for "the only democratic elected entity in the middle east".

Peter Feaver:
22. Can you name three or four prominent foreign policies of the Bush administration that you think were wise and that you will seek to continue under President Obama's tenure?

If Hillary had any sense of economics:

I would continue to crawl on my knees to the chinese to beg they not to dump the dollar and allow the empire to wither away.

Aaron Friedberg:
27. Should the United States seek to create a global "coalition of democracies" through which it can pursue its objectives with countries that share common values and similar institutions?

If Hillary had a libertarian streak:

Our common values should be enforced on everyone everwhere!
Such as letting the natives have their own casinos, but only after they have been properly reserved on a "special piece of land". A similar institution is enhanced interagations, an excellent way to obtain compliant and truthful subjects.

Mitchell Reiss:
34. It is sometimes said that "everyone knows the shape of a final Israeli-Palestinian peace settlement," by which they mean an agreement roughly along the lines proposed by President Clinton in December 2000. Yet the parties have failed to reach agreement for the past eight years along these or any other lines. Please identify the key obstacles to peace, an all sides.

Hillary Clinton:
Dennis Ross

Kori Schake:
39. Given previous opposition within the U.S. diplomatic corps to assignments in war zones, do you support mandatory assignments?

Hillary not the Clinton:
I would not allow any warzones. Let them eat cake.

Michael Singh:
43. You have indicated that we need "tougher" diplomacy with respect to Iran? What does that mean? What new sanctions will you seek to impose on the Iranian regime?

Hillary the RODham:
I am woman, see me fly, a 20 megaton to see you die.

Dov Zakheim:
46. Would you talk to Hamas? To Hezbollah? To Iran?

Hill:
I only talk to who Rohm Emanuel lets me talk to.
